The other night our family was discussing who the kids might get for teachers this year. They were naming Mrs. this and Miss that. Rick asked Sydney, "What if you get a boy teacher?" Not missing a beat Spencer chimed in, "Dad, boys can't be teachers! Only girls." We explained that there are lots of boy teachers and Dad wished he could be one when he retires.
The next day we went to their school to see whose class they'd be in. Spencer's teacher was listed as "Waterbury, Clair" and Sydney's was listed as "Moss, Steph." The registrar asked who their teachers were. Spencer says Mrs. Waterbury and Sydney says Mrs. Moss, only to be corrected that it is Mr. Moss. I look over and see tears streaming down her face. She was devastated that Stephanie Moss is a Stephen Moss.
We walked to the room to meet him. He is young, outgoing, and kind, but still wouldn't talk to him. I have her look around to see if she recognizes any names on the desks. She found two friends from last year. Then we overhear a Mom whose daughter had him last year telling Mr. Moss how upset she is because their other child didn't get him. At that point Sydney finally realizes -- it just might be okay that her teacher has boy parts.

That is so funny. I think that is exactly how Presley would react!
I'm still not convinced boys should be teachers....
